DATES

Gilad Ben Ari shows his performance in Leipzig's public space,
in the context of Abstrakter Realismus,
show from September 16 - October 31 at Kunstverein Leipzig

V E R T I C A L   P A R T I T I O N  #  1  -  B O D Y

during the whole month of October - same time and route:
October 1 - 30, on weekdays between 8:30 and 9:00 am

next to our residency in the Kolonnaden quarter

His performance "vertical partition" is reflecting Eyal Weizman's concept of vertical partition of space in the context of the conflicts between Israel and Palestine. Thus specific spaces of power are not only  horizontally occupied, but also vertically bounded and cutted into ground zones, air spaces and underground ressources.

Gilad Ben Ari visualizes the conflicts of movement due to vertical limitations through body exercises. When he stands up into an errected position, a warning signal refering to the high limiting control is produced. To suppress the noise of interference he moves his body backwards and continues in an extremely bent posture on the ground level. Out of this position he will leave a temporary symbol on a prominent corner: the Star of David that includes words like "otherness" in different languages spoken in Leipzig.

So drop in on your morning way through the city of Leipzig!
